Here is a recipe holder I wanted to share with you. I covered an old Ball canning jar with homespun and then painted a prim pear with sheep on the front. The bent tines of an old vintage fork form the holder. To make it "perfectly prim", I added buttons and rusty wire. That piece of beautiful ecru lace is thanks to Marilyn's give-away that I won recently.

Primitive Jar Recipe Holder
I haven't posted in a bit... the garden and painting for my Etsy shop are really keeping my busy! The okra, peppers, squash and eggplant are doing wonderfully. The tomatoes are struggling in this dreadful heat but I am coaxing them along with plenty of water and words of encouragement!!! Hopefully they will make it through the first of what will be many "heat spells" here in the South.

I like that. I saw an old blue Ball jar at a thrift store that I was thinking about getting. I used to have some...a long time ago. They are so thick and sturdy! This is a cute idea!
That is adorable!!
I've missed seeing your great work and cute ideas!!
Blessings,
Barbara jean
PS Where do you get your pics on the side bar? Can we use them??(hope bird, stay calm and carry on).
Those are great!
How did you anchor the fork in the jar ... this is cute as a button! TTFN ~Marydon
I am so glad your Etsy shop is doing well~do you feel like you do well most of the time? I really need to get a part time job but with homeschooling it is real hard. I have been praying about some options.
I love your things~you paint really well. I love to paint but have not in a long time. You inspired me to get my paints out!
Blessings~
Carrie
Thanks everyone.... I have missed you too!
The Etsy shop keeps me really, really busy but it is a wonderful kind of busy. I love to paint and usually average 8 or more hours every day! I am a hopeless insomniac so I like to make use of those hours that I would otherwise be tossing and turning.
Carrie, continue to make your desires a matter of prayer. I would recommmend Etsy to anyone. It has been a wonderful experience for me and I have met so many wonderful people (crafters and customers from around the world).
The fork in the recipe holder supports itself in the slit I cut in the lid. Be careful and don't make it too wide --- you want it to be snug.
Please help yourself to the pics on the side bar. I made the "stay calm" because I need to follow that advice. I also made the Jane Austen, Beatrix Potter and Chinese proverb (easy to do in Paint on your computer!!!). The others I have picked up here and there or friends have sent them to me.
XXXOOO Martha

You have done it again my friend! Just love this piece! Glad to hear that Etsy is keeping you busy too! I love Etsy, and would recommend it to anyone! So now go and get a few winks so you can go and create another marvelous creation!
Hi Martha!!
What a great idea for a jar! Seems like a recipe card always gets misplaced while using it so this will keep it in place....
So nice to see the lace used on something so Beautiful!
You have the heat & we have the cold. We are barely in the 60's today.. br-r-r-r-r!! At least the gardens are loving it!!
Take care...
Always,
Marilyn
That is adorable!!!!
Oh Geeze, Let Me jump in here too. I am always amazed at the ideas Mz Martha appletreefarm girl comes up with. And she shares her knowledge so freely. Martha, you are such a beautiful lady and such a sweet inspiration to us that love to upcycle wonderful items. I want to make one of course, and I'll add my cinnamon soup aging to the fabric ...do you want the recipe? It makes the fabric schmells really good and it looks all prim and antiquey..
You probably have a recipe of your own..

I also love your music too..It is calming, and it takes me back to a time where I wasn't even born yet..

Martha, I've missed you. So busy with our granddaughter. It is a blessing, she is just 16 months old, and grandma comes home too tired to do much. Your creations always bring me joy!
Hope you are enjoying your summer! Jo
